Clay Walker Concert Recap - Kansas City 12/17/11

Last night was Q104's Holiday Birthday Bash at Whiskey Tango.  The two performers were Clay Walker and Eric Paslay.  Free concert but you had to win tickets from the radio station.

Eric Paslay is a new artist that has wrote quite a few hit songs.  I was very excited to see what he had for us since it was the first time I had seen him.

One of the songs we wrote was "Friday Night" which Lady Antebellum recorded...cool to hear that.

Eric seems like a really cool guy and I enjoyed all of his songs.  He has a nice even voice.

For sure one of the most successful songs Eric was been a part of was for Jake Owen.  It had to be really cool to write "Barefoot Bluejean Night" and see it go #1.

And finally, here is Eric's first hit.  I think it is a very cool song and I always listen to it when it comes on the radio.   "Never Really Wanted"

Between sets, I had a meet and greet with Clay Walker.  Not sure who was to blame but it was the worse one I have ever seen.  They said to be over at 9:15 and it probably started around 10:15.  In between, there was actually a fight in the M&G line.  Also, when you finally got to meet him, it lasted about 2 seconds.

Next up, it was time for Clay Walker to hit the stage...

Clay Walker seemed to be really excited to be on stage.  He was dancing around and smiling all night.  He brought a party atmosphere to the stage and it spilled over to the crowd.

Clay Walker has so many hits, he could not possibly play them all.  It really is a good problem. to have.  Here is one of the earlier ones, "Eyes Wide Open"..

Clay Walker spent much of the time interacting with the crowd.  It felt like he threw out mabye 100 guitar pics.  I don't think any really came my way though.

Speaking of giving things out, it got really crazy during "Then What"...

Clay played a few songs from his new album.  He is one of the few artists I know of that kind of went away and came back with some really big hits.

It was really a great night.  The place was really packed...here is the encore "Fall"...
