Mark Chestnut Concert Recap - Ottawa, KS 2/04/12

Last night in Ottawa, Mark Chestnut played at the Ottawa Municipal Auditorium.  It was all acoustic which made it a pretty cool night.

Opening the show was Travis Marvin....he is from Ottawa so he had a ton of support at the show!

He played some different songs than I normally hear from him.  Part of it was that it was an older crowd, he also got longer to play than normal.  A good way to kick off the show...

Finally, it was time for Mark Chestnut to come out.  It was a very simple setup...just 3 guys and 3 chairs...

Somehow, this was the first time I had seen Mark Chestnut in concert....it was pretty good!

Pretty early on, he played one of my favorite songs..."Going through the Big D"...

He was just sort of taking requests from the crowd.  People would shout out songs and he would consider playing them, but most of the time he wouldn't.  He also played one of the best covers out there, "Rollin with the Flow"...

Ottawa Municipal is such a nice and small place.  The sound in it is so great, you never had a problem hearing anything.

Another just great Mark Chestnut song is "Sure is Monday"....I know I will be singing that one for a few Mondays now...

Mark didn't really didn't do a normal encore.  He said if he left that chair he wasn't coming back.  So he just announced, show is over and now I am doing the encore.  The last song he played, might have been the best....  "Too Cold at Home"!

The concert was just perfect.  I love acoustic concerts, he has a ton of hits and it just sounded perfect.  If he rolls through your town, make sure you go!
